Kuito, Bié — The waters of baptism flowed with renewed purpose this past weekend in the Nova Centralidade District, where a week-long evangelistic campaign culminated in a powerful testimony of faith and inclusion that moved an entire community to tears. From January 10 to 17, the district became a living sanctuary as theology students, church leaders, and members of the Seventh-day Adventist Church united under a singular mission: proclaiming the message of Christ’s Second Coming. What followed was nothing short of extraordinary—200 souls chose to seal their commitment to faith
through baptism.
A Moment That Transcended Ceremony
Saturday, January 17, marked the crescendo of the spiritual journey. Hundreds gathered as Pastor Severiano Chicolomuenho Alfredo, district leader, and Pastor Francisco Chiquembe presided over the baptismal service. But amid the joy and celebration, one moment stood apart—a moment that would become the week’s most powerful sermon.
A woman in a wheelchair descended into the baptismal waters. Her profession of faith, delivered with radiant conviction, silenced the crowd before erupting into applause. In that sacred instant, she became more than a new disciple—she became a living embodiment of the Adventist Possibilities Ministry, a global initiative that embraces and empowers individuals with physical, auditory, visual,
cognitive, and other special needs within church life and service.
“It was more than a ceremony”, shared witnesses. “It was a silent sermon on inclusion, courage, and hope—proof that Christ’s call excludes no one.”
A Week of Transformation
The evangelistic impact spread across all seven organised churches within the Nova Centralidade ecclesiastical district. The central theme- “The Second Coming of Christ” resonated deeply, awakening faith, repentance, and spiritual commitment throughout the communities.
Special participation came from missionary students at the Bongo Higher Institute of Theology, whose ministrations strengthened both the faithful and the broader local community. Their presence underscored the power of collaborative ministry and personal discipleship.
Where Heaven Meets Earth
Church leaders emphasised that the week demonstrated what happens when divine movement meets human willingness. “Lives are reached, families renewed, and entire
communities transformed” they affirmed. As the event concluded under thunderous applause and heartfelt gratitude, the message was clear: the mission continues. Nova Centralidade now welcomes 200 new missionaries into its fold—including one sister whose very presence testifies that in
Christ, all possibilities become real.
In a world that often builds barriers, this small district in Bié province chose instead to tear them down, one baptism at a time.
