The Southwest Angola Union Mission is expanding its Digital Missionaries Programme with the training of 52 additional participants in the Southern Angola Mission, following the successful pilot training and graduation of 24 Digital Missionaries in February 2026.

The next training cohort will take place in Lubango, headquarters of the Southern Angola Mission, and is scheduled to begin this week. Fifty-two participants have already registered, with additional young people continuing to express interest in joining the initiative.

Pastor Henriques Capingãla Romeu, Communication Director of the Southern Angola Mission, said the first Digital Missionaries training in southern Angola has generated significant enthusiasm among Adventist youth, reflecting a growing desire to use digital platforms to share the gospel.

The announcement followed a meeting on 6 July 2026 with local church communication directors and registered participants. This will be the first time the Digital Missionaries Programme is conducted in the southern region of Angola.

Since the pilot cohort graduated, some local churches within the Southwest Angola Union Mission have integrated the Digital Missionaries curriculum into their layperson training programmes. The initiative forms part of the Seventh-day Adventist Church's global strategy to strengthen digital evangelism by equipping members to share the message of hope on the platforms where millions of people now spend a significant portion of their daily lives. The programme is being implemented under the Union's One Voice 27 (UmaVoz27) initiative.

Throughout the training, participants will develop skills in Christian communication, social media content creation, digital evangelism, and the ethical use of communication technologies. Organisers say the goal is to prepare a new generation of digital missionaries capable of building meaningful online relationships and pointing others to a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

The rising number of registrations reflects a readiness among Adventist youth in southern Angola to respond to the demands of twenty-first-century mission by using technology as a channel for sharing hope and expanding the reach of the gospel.

The expansion of the Digital Missionaries Programme marks a further step in the Adventist Church's growing commitment to digital mission in Angola.
