In a blend of faith and technology, the Lingadzi Seventh-day Adventist Church Pastoral District in Lilongwe has empowered residents of Majinga Village with digital skills that have ignited hope for improved livelihoods and entrepreneurship opportunities.

The initiative was led by a Zimbabwean Microsoft trainer, Blessings Muvuti, who equipped participants, ranging in age from ten to sixty years, with essential digital skills for everyday life.

Pastor Dingani Mfune, the Lingadzi district pastor, expressed satisfaction with the initiative of extending computer training beyond the church, thereby equipping both the young and the old with digital skills for today’s computerized world.

One of my greatest desires in ministry is to uplift people’s lives, change their situations, and move them forward spiritually as well as economically. I always see ministry as something beyond the pulpit,” Pastor Mfune explained.

One of the participants, Felister Mbewe, a 24-year-old Form Four student who is not an Adventist, expressed gratitude for the skills she acquired in computer use, which will help her pursue her dreams after completing her studies.

When I learned that the SDA Church was offering computer training to the public, I saw it as a valuable opportunity,” Mbewe said. “It has always been my desire to be computer literate, since employers prioritize digital skills. The training will play a big role in shaping my future.”

During the closing ceremony on 24th May 2025, facilitator Blessings Muvuti donated assorted accessories worth K5 million to the church to support the continuation of the program.

The training took place during the day, while revival meetings were held in the evenings. At the end of the program, twelve individuals committed their lives to Christ and pledged to follow Him in their daily lives.
