A Seventh-day Adventist Church delegation led by Pastor Teixeira Mateus Vinte, president of the North-Eastern Angola Union, was received by Angola’s Ministry of Territorial Administration on 12 October 2026, where it appealed for understanding on the observance of the Sabbath.
The delegation met Minister Daniel Félix Neto. Church leaders emphasised the importance of religious freedom, and in particular of the Sabbath, which Seventh-day Adventists observe as their day of worship. They told the ministry that Church members are Angolan citizens committed to the country’s development, and asked that the authorities take their religious convictions into account.

The meeting also covered the national voter registration update, on which the delegation received clarification from the ministry.
The Ministry of Territorial Administration is responsible for the registration process, which opened on 15 June 2026 and runs until 31 March 2027. The government expects more than 16 million citizens to register or update their details, and has been expanding the network of service counters across the country to 634.
Discussions further covered the Adventist Church’s social initiatives and its contribution to Angolan society. Church leaders said they intend to continue cooperating with the State on projects that support community wellbeing and family life, and to maintain dialogue with the authorities on religious freedom.
