A total of 191 leaders graduated with the Public Campus Ministry (PCM) Competency Certificate Level One at Masvingo Polytechnic on 10 October 2026, at a Youth Big Sabbath attended by more than 3,000 young people.

Organisers described it as the largest PCM Level One graduation held so far in the Seventh-day Adventist Church’s Southern Africa-Indian Ocean Division (SID).

SID Youth Ministries director, Dr Irvine Gwatiringa at the Public Campus Ministries graduation.

Those graduating included chaplains, heads of schools and school inspectors. Central Zimbabwe Conference President Pastor [first name] Ndebele was the first to receive a certificate.

Dr Irvine Gwatiringa, SID Youth Ministries director, officiated. Preaching earlier under the theme “Youth on a Mission,” he took the account in 2 Kings 5 of the young Israelite servant girl whose testimony sent Naaman, a Syrian commander with leprosy, to the prophet Elisha.

Taken captive and far from home, the girl spoke about God’s power anyway — and did so for a household connected to her own suffering. Gwatiringa drew two points from it: difficult circumstances need not stop young people from helping others, and painful experience need not harden them towards the people bound up in it. He urged them to serve within their present circumstances rather than wait for better ones.

Public Campus Ministry works with Adventist students at public colleges and universities, equipping them to build relationships that lead fellow students towards commitment to Christ. It also supports Adventist lecturers and other staff working on those campuses.

Pastor [first name] Mutasa, the union director, also attended.
