The Malawi Union Conference in the Southern Africa-Indian Ocean Division conducted a stewardship revival seminar across three regional conferences, aimed at strengthening faithful stewardship as part of Christian discipleship.

The initiative took place in the South West Malawi Conference, Eastern Malawi Conference, and South East Malawi Conference, reaching church members and leaders across multiple regions.

Focus on stewardship and discipleship

The seminar featured guest speakers from the division, including Mundia Liywalii, Stewardship director, and Prazeres João Henriques, Stewardship associate director. The program was coordinated by Patrick John Muhoko, Stewardship director for the Malawi Union Conference.

Organizers said the seminar focused on reinforcing biblical principles of stewardship, encouraging faithfulness in tithes and offerings, and equipping participants with practical knowledge in financial management at both personal and church levels.

Additional emphasis was placed on promoting generosity, mission-focused giving, and integrating stewardship into broader discipleship and church growth strategies.

Broad participation

The seminar engaged participants across multiple zones and institutions, ensuring involvement from both church leaders and members.

The program concluded with a joint weekend gathering at Kamuzu Stadium, where members from across the three conferences came together for worship and a call to renewed commitment.

Following the seminar, a consultative meeting was held with local conference stewardship directors, union leadership, and division representatives. Organizers said the meeting provided an opportunity for reflection, alignment, and planning for future initiatives.

Impact and outlook

Church leaders reported that the seminar contributed to renewed spiritual commitment, increased awareness of stewardship principles, and strengthened unity among participating conferences.

They also noted improvements in leadership engagement and a continued emphasis on financial faithfulness within local congregations.

Leaders described the March–April 2026 seminar as a significant step in ongoing efforts to develop stewardship as a core component of discipleship across the region.
