The Kanye Seventh-day Adventist College of Nursing has commissioned a new academic building, marking a physical milestone in the institution's rapid recent expansion.

The facility comprises two classroom blocks, two ablution blocks for male and female students, and ten office spaces, and has been built to accommodate the growing student population as the college broadens its healthcare programme offerings.

The building was officially commissioned by Botswana Union Conference President Pastor Phemelo Seboka, who delivered the keynote address. Seboka reflected on the college's journey, for more than 78 years, the institution offered only a Higher Diploma in General Nursing. In recent years, it has diversified its programme portfolio to include a Degree in General Nursing, a Degree in Public Health, and a Certificate in Health Care Assistance. Seboka also spoke to the college's contribution to Botswana's healthcare sector and to the local economy of Kanye.

Kanye District Council Chairman Hon. Morapedi Kgosithebe called on the college leadership, staff, students, and community to continue working together to build an institution that produces competent, compassionate, and ethical healthcare professionals in service of national development.

Botswana Union Conference Education Director Dr. Gillian Nono Mmolotsa thanked those who contributed to the building project and reaffirmed her commitment to supporting the college's vision.

The commissioning was also attended by Acting Deputy District Commissioner Ms. Tuelo Gothaang; Council Secretary Mr. Joseph Banyatsang; Kanye Adventist Hospital Chief Executive Officer Dr. Richard Ssenyonjo; Area Councillor Hon. Pako Ramaselwana; village leaders; Botswana Union Conference delegates; and members of the local community.

The commissioning follows a period of rapid growth at the college. Since Principal Carol Shabane took office in September 2024, student enrolment has grown from 213 to 702, and staff numbers have almost doubled, from 56 to 107. Earlier this month, the college also welcomed Pastor Amos Mapharing as its inaugural Vice Principal for Spirituality and Welfare.
