The Far East Bank Seventh-day Adventist Church has delivered a substantial grocery donation to the Ratang Bana Centre in Alexandra's East Bank, continuing a legacy of giving to the community organisation.

The donation was delivered on Sabbath, 1 August 2026, and comprised 11 bags of mealie meal (12.5kg each) and 12 bags of mixed vegetables (7kg each). The Ratang Bana Centre serves orphans, children whose families struggle to provide daily meals, and survivors of abuse.

The delivery builds on a R10,000 cash donation made by the congregation to the centre in 2025, during the Trans-Orange Conference's IMPACT Gauteng programme. The earlier donation was similarly channelled into food parcels for struggling families in the area.

The Far East Bank congregation's outreach to Alexandra forms part of a wider pattern of Adventist engagement with Johannesburg's socio-economically vulnerable communities.
