More than 1,000 Seventh-day Adventist women from the Mzuzu Zone of the Malawi Union mobilised for a Sabbath outreach at Mzuzu Prison on 20 June 2026, worshipping with and distributing donations to more than 650 inmates on both the male and female sides of the facility.

The outreach began with a prayerful march from Katoto Secondary School Ground to the prison, with members in blue Adventist Community Services uniforms. The programme was hosted by the Mzuzu Prison Seventh-day Adventist Church, which operates under Mzuzu Central Church.

Donations to inmates included Bible Study Guides, food parcels, soap, lotion, and other gifts.

Malawi Union Women's Ministries Director Linda Kasambara delivered the sermon under the theme "God as Our Inheritance," drawing on Genesis 49 and Genesis 34:30-31.

"We see broken families in Genesis," Kasambara said. "But even in brokenness, God was writing a story of redemption. Your past does not cancel God's purpose for your life."

The Mzuzu Zone Women's Ministries Leader said the visit was an extension of the ministry's commitment to practical service. "The mission is to serve as Christ served," she said. "Seeing our brothers and sisters respond to Calvary makes every effort worthwhile."

Prison Chaplain Fumbani Gondwe welcomed the women warmly and thanked them on behalf of the inmates.

"We thank the Women's Ministries for remembering us," Gondwe said. "Your visit feeds both body and soul. This word gives us strength to face tomorrow."

One participating Women's Ministries member explained the spirit behind the outreach: "We came to say you are loved, valued, and not forgotten. Hebrews 13:3 tells us to remember those in prison as if we were together with them."

The outreach was witnessed by pastors' wives from the Mzuzu Zone and senior prison officials. Malawi Union Women's Ministries leadership has indicated that prison outreach will continue as a sustained feature of the ministry's programme across the territory.
