The Adventist Athletics Club (AAC) Lesotho chapter will host its first-ever race on 13 September 2026, a 10km run through the capital aimed at encouraging active lifestyles at minimal cost.

Dubbed the Adventist Athletics Run Your City, the race is expected to attract at least 300 participants. Runners will start at Pioneer Mall, take a route around Maseru, and finish where they began.

AAC coach Tumelo Majorobela said the race is intended to promote exercise as a preventive measure against lifestyle diseases.

"We simply want to encourage people to exercise as a way of preventing lifestyle illnesses, but once sustained, it can easily be managed," Majorobela said. "We want people to run so that they can be fit and healthy. I know a lot of people now have testimonies on how exercise has kept them from constant hospital consultations."

He said the club intends to take the event beyond the capital in future years. "We will go around the country, just like those in the Republic of South Africa that extend to its provinces, specialising in 10km, and that is what we want to adopt to be inclusive of everyone."

AAC Lesotho Public Relations Officer Sam Ntene said the timing was significant, with the chapter marking ten years since its launch.

"One of our biggest pillars is good health and exercise, without leaving behind God, because we believe we are stewards entrusted with our bodies; hence, we ought to take good care of them," Ntene said.

The club runs under the affiliation of the Maseru Athletics Academy (MAA), whose Secretary General, Mosiuoa 'Moso, welcomed the race and praised the chapter's growth.

"This club has really grown, and we are all witnesses because they are well organised," 'Moso said. "They have not only grown locally, but also globally. Hence, we fully welcome the upcoming race."

Entry costs M300 and includes a commemorative T-shirt bearing the inscription "10KM RUN YOUR CITY" Maseru, as well as a medal. Registration closes on Friday, 28 August 2026.

The Adventist Athletics Club was established in South Africa in 2012 and has since expanded to six South African provinces and to Lesotho, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Zambia, and Eswatini. It maintains a global network of approximately 1,000 members, including in the United States, the United Kingdom, and the Philippines. The Lesotho chapter, launched in 2016, has around 50 members including several elite runners, and is regarded as one of the pioneer clubs in the Maseru District.
